FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Answers You Need

ARE YOU AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL?

We are not a school, but a platform that connects certified teachers with students. The students on our platform are technically homeschooled (though some states consider homeschool as private school). Although we are not an accredited school, all of our teachers must pass rigorous standards, including being certified by the state in which they teach.

WHAT CURRICULUM DO YOU USE?

Our certified teachers choose a curriculum best suited to your children's needs, and they ensure that their lessons meet or exceed the standards set by the state in which your children reside.

DO I NEED TO ORDER BOOKS OR SUPPLIES?

We encourage teachers to rely on free or extremely affordable online sources in order to keep costs low. Ultimately, the school supply list will be up to the teacher. If your child's teacher is requiring supplies that you cannot afford, please get in touch with them and ask them to make an accommodation.

WILL THERE BE PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES?

our child's teacher will determine the frequency and necessity of parent teacher conferences.

WILL MY CHILD RECEIVE A REPORT CARD?

Your child's teacher will issue a progress report to let you know how your child is performing in class. In addition, teachers will make student work available to you for your review as needed.

HOW DO I ENROLL MY CHILDREN IN HOME SCHOOL?

It depends on the state. In some states, you don't need to notify anyone. In Texas, you only need to notify your child's school district of your intent to home school them if they are already enrolled in public school. You must withdraw them to avoid any potential misunderstandings or headaches. (You don't want the school thinking your children are truant because they're being homeschooled).Other states, such as New York, require you to inform the superintendent of schools of your school district of residence by August 1st, 2020. Or, if you decide to home school after the start of the school year, you should provide written notice of your intention to homeschool your child within fourteen (14) days following the start of home instruction.
